Supreme Court of Canada
Born in a Displaced Persons camp in Stuttgart, Germany, Justice Abella came to Canada in 1950. She attended the University of Toronto where she received her B.A and LL.B. degrees. Following a distinguished career as a litigator, judge and policy advisor, Justice Abella was appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada in 2004.
